CEDAR RAPIDS – It was a picture-perfect night Wednesday at the Noelridge Park gardens.
As part of its season of “Art in the Park,” members of the Linn Area Photo Club and Friends of Noelridge photographers offered a photography night at the gardens, complete with picture frames to highlight various vignettes.
“Art in the Park” is also the theme of Noelridge’s entry in this year’s All America Selection Display Garden Landscape Contest.
The gardens continually change with the season, so the event offered a perfect reason to stop by and capture the midsummer’s beauty.
The Photo Club and Friends members offered advice on how to take garden photos and Linn County Master Gardener, Becki Lynch, answered questions about the garden, along with Friends of Noelridge volunteer Cindy Garlock and others. For example, Becki identified the stunning zinnia at the end of the string of photos below, as a 2006 AAS winner: “Zowie Yellow Flame.”

Thank you for your support of so many garden events in this area. We especially enjoyed this article on the “Art in the Park” event.

Thanks for your note, Jean!
It’s a pleasure to go there.
Don’t know if you answer questions or not, but I have one of the orange butterfly flowers growing in my rain-garden area that just up and volunteered next to some Honeybee White Agastache. If you know what it is, and/or the name of the beautiful bug-snatching dragon-fly I’ll be grateful for sure. Knowing that they grow it at Noelridge I will try to propagate regardless.
Hi Byron!
I’m trying to find an answer (or two) for you.
