Iowa’s recent smack of winter weather belies the calendar’s march toward spring, and with it, the coming of Daylight Saving Time.

Daylight Saving Time goes into effect at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025, the second Sunday of March.

If you have a clock that doesn’t automatically adjust, be sure to set them forward one hour before going to bed on Saturday, March 8. While we lose an hour of sleep, we “gain” an hour of daylight.

The switch back to Standard Time happens the first Sunday in November.

While warmer weather might seem elusive, temperatures are expected to climb next week, soon followed by the gardening season.

When the time comes, identify what’s coming up in your garden via foliage.
