CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A decades-old business in Czech Village is soon closing its doors.

Czech Village Antiques, 82 16th Ave. SW, owned by Pam and Ken Lewis since 1989, will end operations Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, after the couple sold the buildings housing the business earlier this year.

“Everything will be on sale and we will have cupcakes, punch, a little wine and a few tears to celebrate the end of the era, 35 years in the village,” Pam Lewis said of Sunday’s closing, when the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Many of the 15 or so vendors who sold glassware, jewelry, vintage clothing and other antiques in the shop plan to retire, she said.

Most items in the shop are discounted as the business enters its final days.

Signs noting what the future holds for the vendors can be found dotted throughout the antiques mall, which is actually three buildings at 78, 80 and 82 16th Ave. SW, and had previously been a Coast-to-Coast store.

The business survived the record 2008 flood that inundated Czech Village and other core neighborhoods of Cedar Rapids.

Lewis said the developer who purchased the properties will modernize the 1920s-era buildings for other businesses, though she had heard of no definitive plans.
