Good call by the Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids to schedule the annual Maple Syrup Festival this weekend.

A steady line of breakfast-goers filed outside the Nature Center, at 6665 Otis Rd. SE, the entire morning Saturday, with more than 1,400 people attending the first day alone.

Typically, the festival, featuring syruping demonstrations, a pancake breakfast and live entertainment, is held earlier in March, but this year was moved to the end of syruping season. Many attendees took advantage of the sunny day by eating outdoors at picnic tables.

The festival continues today (Sunday, March 22, 2015) from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
