Trees Forever is marking a milestone this year as the Marion-based nonprofit celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Throughout the year, Trees Forever is hosting 25 special events to highlight the accomplishments achieved together with the community in roadside plantings, improving water quality, providing more shade for communities, habitat and so much more.

The first anniversary event takes place March 11, as Trees Forever hosts a free night of learning and inspiration on the important role of trees and native plants for pollinators.

University of Delaware professor, Dr. Doug Tallamy, author of “Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants,” will discuss the important ecological roles of the plants in our landscapes and how you can garden with these roles in mind.

Dr. Tallamy is the chair of the Entomology and Wildlife Ecology department, where he has been studying insects and their role in the environment for over 20 years. Among his research areas are the impact of alien plants on native ecosystems; the interactions between plants and insects and the conservation of biodiversity. This event is free and no registration is required.
