I first visited Wanda Lunn’s garden back in 2008, when she invited me to see her iris in bloom in one of only two display gardens in Iowa for the Historic Iris Preservation Society.

Anyone in this area who enjoys viewing beautiful gardens is in luck. Wanda hosts periodical open gardens at her home in Cedar Rapids and one is coming up on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

Wanda notes that the tall bearded iris will be putting on a show again.

Her garden is home to more than 200 tall varieties of iris in bloom, plus other spring flowers.

Besides seeing her stunning gardens, don’t be surprised to learn something new. Wanda readily shares information on planting, care and identification of the flowers.

The open iris garden will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, at 526 Bezdek Drive NW in Cedar Rapids.
