As part of its season of “Art in the Park,” members of the Linn Area Photo Club  and Friends of Noelridge photographers are offering a photography night at the Noelridge gardens.

“Art in the Park” is also the theme of Noelridge’s entry in this year’s All America Selection Display Garden Landscape Contest. Read about the contest here and see below for more from Linn County Master Gardener, Becki Lynch, about the photography event:

The City of Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of Noelridge Park would like to invite all photographers – young to old, novice to expert – to the Noelridge Park Gardens on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, for an “Art in the Park” event.

From 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., members of the Linn Area Photo Club  and Friends of Noelridge photographers will be on hand to advise and give tips on how to take garden landscape photos. From how to set your camera, to landscape photos, to framing and close-ups, your questions will be answered in an informal format.

This is a hands-on workshop, so you will be taking pictures of the beautiful garden beds as you learn. If you have no questions, simply wander the beds taking pictures of the beautiful landscape, plants, and butterflies.

The Linn Area Photo Club members always enjoy discussing the art and techniques of photography, and will offer information on how to become a member.

“Art in the Park” picture frames will be set in the All America Selections Beds and Linn County Master Gardeners Herb Bed to highlight gardening vignettes and provide a new photographic experience for all.

The event is free to the public, so simply come to the top of the Noelridge Park garden beds, at Collins Road and Council Street NE, next to the Parking Lot anytime between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. We’ll meet you there!
