Danielle Martin, market coordinator for the Mount Vernon Farmers Market, said the market will be moving as of Thursday, May 30, 2013.

Danielle said Memorial Park, where the outdoor market is held, at 311 First St., W., will be closed beginning next week, due to the renovation of the water tower.

The market will be held as usual at the park this Thursday, May 23, but will revert to the site of its winter markets for the rest of this season, beginning next week.

Danielle said the parking lot of the First Street Community Center, at 221 First St. E., is open and available for the summer market.

Rather than return to the park after those renovations are complete, Danielle and her sister, Laura Strabala, thought it would create less confusion to finish the season at the Community Center site. Both are also vendors, in addition to coordinating the markets.

Danielle noted that several vendors had asked to move the outdoor market to the Community Center in the past.

Mount Vernon’s market is open 4-6 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 10; on May 23 at Memorial Park, and outside the Community Center from May 30 through the rest of the season.
