As businesses respond to the coronavirus pandemic, New Pioneer Food Co-op decided to close its doors on certain days to help meet the demand for its shopping service, Co-op Cart.

New Pi operates stores in Cedar Rapids, Coralville and Iowa City, offering local, organic, and natural foods. Customers don’t need to be members to shop at the stores.

General Manager Matt Hartz sent the following on Wednesday, April 1, 2020:

As social distancing continues to be vital, we have seen an increased need for our online shopping service, Co-op Cart. In order to help meet demand, and test expansion of our online service, we will be closing our stores to the public and only filling online orders on the days below. During these days, we will increase the number of available curbside pick-up time slots per hour at each respective store.

Cedar Rapids & Coralville will be closed Monday, April 6.
Iowa City will be closed Friday, April 10.

To place your Co-op Cart order, simply visit Shop.Newpi.Coop. Have questions on how it works? We’ve assembled a FAQ page with answers and quick tutorials to help.

Thank you for choosing New Pioneer and for being an integral part of our community. We look forward to serving you in the coming weeks.

Regards,

Matt Hartz
