The end of the farmers market season can be a bit depressing for me, but one thing has changed in recent years to serve as a bright spot in these dark days.
A growing number of indoor markets offer some of the same fresh produce, local honey, farm-fresh eggs, home-baked bread, hormone-free meat and more.
One of my favorites, in Springville, closed last year, so I’m hoping others will step in to take its place.
This is the official call-out for market masters, vendors, or anyone else with knowledge of a winter market, to provide that information. I will be compiling a list in the next week or so to share with Homegrown readers.
Just leave the information in a comment, below, to be included on the winter farmers market list or contact me on the Homegrown Facebook page.
In the meantime, Iowa City, Hiawatha, and a few other places still have outdoor markets remaining. Check out the Homegrown list to find details of markets in your area.
Not a farmers market but a service in DesMoines and surronding areas. Delivering fresh organic produce to your doorstep every week, year-round. Prudent Produce. There is a webpage and a face book page. I highly recommend this service, we love it.
Thanks Julie! I found their website – sounds interesting!
