Don’t be scared off by the Halloween theme at this weekend’s Eastern Iowa Orchid Show & Sale.

Organizers promise the annual event will be “a scream” at its new location, at the Elks Lodge, 801 33rd Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. Admission is free.

The show has previously been held at the Noelridge Greenhouses in northeast Cedar Rapids.

Orchid displays and presentations and a plant sale are among activities at the event, hosted by the Eastern Iowa Orchid Society.

Six societies from the upper Midwest area have been invited to arrange their displays of orchids around the Halloween theme, and three regional vendors from the Chicago area will have orchid plants for sale.
