Many Eastern Iowans know my sister, Margaret Wolter, from her years as a naturalist at the Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids.

While she is now dedicating her work to teaching preschoolers, she still keeps nature at the forefront.

On a trip to our uncle’s farm near Chelsea this week, she spotted a tiny winged insect on a weed – something I would never have noticed.

She probably has a bug network for ID purposes, but it piqued my interest, so now I’m wondering if any Homegrown readers can identify this mystery insect. I’ll let you know if my sister comes up with the answer first.
