CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Hundreds of visitors, young and young at heart, stepped into tropical warmth to enjoy the spirit of the holidays inside the Noelridge Greenhouse.
Volunteer Wanda Lunn said Friends of Noelridge hosted the Noelridge Lights & Blooms event one night last year and decided to extend it to two nights in 2023.
Within the first hour on Thursday, Nov. 30, nearly 500 people had passed through the greenhouse doors at 4900 Council St. NE for the free event, with donations of nonperishable food encouraged for the HACAP Food Reservoir.

Visitors enjoyed hot cider, punch, cookies and popcorn while viewing the holiday displays and lights set up by volunteers in the warmth of the greenhouse and its permanent collection of tropical plants.
Friends of Noelridge also have holiday plant decor for sale at the event, which continues from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.
