Natural Grocers opens the doors to its new Cedar Rapids store on Nov. 23, 2016, but a select group of customers tried food samples, signed up for drawings and shopped early for two hours on Nov. 22.
Store manager Josh Smith said about 200 people were expected for the pre-opening party at the new 15,000-square-foot store at 931 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, not far from Rockwell Collins.
Natural Grocers offers organic and natural groceries with no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, preservatives or trans-fats, along with dietary supplements and body care products and a nutritional health coach in each store.
Smith said the store will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, then close for Thanksgiving before operating under its normal hours.
In celebration of the grand opening, Natural Grocers will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:55 a.m. and the first 100 customers in line will be able to choose either a “mystery” gift card, varying in amounts from $5 to $100, or a prize from the grand opening giveaway table. Customers won’t know the amount of their gift card until they check out.
Opening day activities include: 8 to 10 a.m. – Rise and Shine, It’s Muffin Time!
Noon to 4 p.m. – Vendor demonstrations throughout the store
5 to 7 p.m. – Ice Cream Social
