A friend who tried to get VIP tickets to “Cocktails with Chris” said they sold out the minute they went on sale last week.
Hy-Vee, which is sponsoring the fundraiser, said no more VIP tickets will be issued – I’ve heard just 50 were made available – but as of last check, there still appeared to be general admission tickets for the event, set for Feb. 12 at the Cedar Rapids Marriott.
“The Bachelor,” Chris Soules, of Arlington, Iowa, will be on hand for the fundraiser, along with some of the “other bachelors of Arlington,” who have their own claim to fame with a calendar. Hy-Vee released more details about the event, including which “other bachelors” will attend.
The evening will include a “dating game” featuring Mr. September (Jordan) and a live bachelor auction featuring Mr. March (John), Mr. June (Jake), Mr. October (Jason), Mr. November (Jordan) and Mr. December (Alex.)

Hy-Vee Presents: Cocktails with Chris and ‘The Other Bachelors of Arlington’
CEDAR RAPIDS – Hy-Vee is excited to announce an upcoming event “Cocktails with Chris and ‘The Other Bachelors of Arlington’” – featuring Chris Soules, The Bachelor himself, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Hotel Ballroom.
Complete with a live date auction, silent auction, complimentary hors d’oeuvres provided by Hy-Vee, and beverages for purchase – the event will begin at 6 p.m.
Guests will have time throughout the evening to purchase bachelor calendars, collect autographs, have photos taken with the bachelors (courtesy of Joe Photo), enjoy live music by Beau Timmerman, mingle with ‘The Other Bachelors of Arlington,’ and bid on auction items.
Event proceeds will be donated to the Arlington Community Center, a million dollar project currently underway and the reason for creating the bachelor calendar in September 2014. Under the leadership of Arlington natives John Fedeler and Summer Handel, 12 Arlington bachelors combined forces to publish the 2015 calendar as a fundraising effort for their community center.
“We are very excited to be working with Hy-Vee and cannot wait to have ‘The Bachelor – Chris Soules’ and some of ‘The Other Bachelors’ together at a public event for the first time since the release of the calendar,” said Handel. “We’re looking forward to drawing a great crowd and raising additional funds for Arlington’s new community center.”
The evening will include a “dating game” featuring Mr. September (Jordan) and a live bachelor auction featuring Mr. March (John), Mr. June (Jake), Mr. October (Jason), Mr. November (Jordan), and Mr. December (Alex). Ticket sales will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at www.eventbrite.com by searching “Cocktails with Chris.” General admission tickets cost $20 each (includes event admission and complimentary hors d’oeuvres). VIP tickets cost $40 each (includes event admission, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, guaranteed photo with Chris Soules, and one free drink ticket).
The talented Nicole Agee, KCRG’s morning news anchor, will emcee the evening. A special thanks to KCRG-TV9, Strategic Print Solutions, Joe Photo, and the Marriott – event sponsors that have helped to make event details come together quickly after spurring off an idea from social media, originated by Britt Nielsen, Social Media Coordinator for Cedar Rapids and Marion Hy-Vee Stores.
