The Marion Chamber of Commerce sent the following about the first Uptown Marion Market of the season, this Saturday, June 8, 2013:
Uptown Marion Market kicks off this Saturday, June 8 in City Square Park. This year’s market will feature over 50 vendors with fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, honey, organic meat, eggs, Iowa wines, salsa, jellies and an array of artisan items. In addition, food vendors will be onsite to offer a variety of take-and-eat items. The Uptown Marion Market is held the 2nd Saturday, June – August from 7:30 a.m. – noon (June 8, July 13 and August 10.)
A variety of live entertainment will be offered throughout the summer along with informational booths onsite including the Master Gardener Plant Doctors, ISU Extension, City of Marion and more. On June 8, acoustic guitar artist Billy Heller will perform from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and Sparkles the Clown will be doing children’s balloon art from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. In addition, children are encouraged to visit the Bloom Hoophouse booth for their free “Sweet Garden Treat” – a free sprout of their choice, potting mix and assistance planting it into their own ice cream cone planter (free while supplies last).
Uptown Marion Market is sponsored by the Marion Chamber Platinum Community Partners – Farmers State Bank, Fosters Heating and Air Conditioning, Philip’s Diamond Shop & Design Center and MercyCare Community Physicians-Marion and Mercy Medical Center, produced by the Marion Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Marion – a Main Street Iowa District with support by the City of Marion. Love the Marion Market! I’ll be there every date this summer inside the depot selling handcrafted goat’s milk soaps, perfumes, and body products.
