Anyone who knows Sonia Kendrick knows how much she has given to this community.

Kendrick started Feed Iowa First to grow food for people in need, and now her nonprofit organization has a need of its own.

Feed Iowa First purchased a bus to deliver fresh produce from its many farms directly to neighborhoods. Unfortunately, the organization’s board did not know at the time of purchase that the bus needs its brakes replaced, at a cost of $4,000.

The produce, grown on empty space outside of churches and businesses,  goes to Mission of Hope, Meals on Wheels, Green Square Meals, and River of Life and Hillside food pantries.

If you’re able to help get the bus in working condition, donations can be mailed to: 1622 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
