CEDAR RAPIDS – It’s what fans of fresh, local and organic foods have been awaiting.

New Pioneer Food Co-op has been readying its new store in Cedar Rapids for more than a year and today announced what the opening date will be.

The Cedar Rapids site is the third location for the co-op, based in Iowa City.

The store, at 3338 Center Point Rd. NE, will open on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m., New Pi officials said.

Here is today’s announcement from New Pioneer:

Iowa City, Dec. 3, 2014 – New Pioneer Food Co-op’s Cedar Rapids location will open its doors for business next Wednesday, December 10, at 10AM. New Pi invites Co-op owners to join in for a group ribbon cutting at 9:45AM. The ribbon cutting is BYOS – Bring Your Own Scissors!

Everyone is welcome to shop at New Pioneer Food Co-op. New Pi Cedar Rapids is located at 3338 Center Point Road NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 – near 32nd Street NE.

Regular store hours, consistent with New Pi Iowa City & Coralville stores, will start Thursday, December 11: 7AM to 10PM daily.

New Pioneer Cooperative Society was founded as a natural foods cooperative grocery in Iowa City in 1971, opened its Coralville branch in 2001, and will open a third store in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. New Pi is a thriving food co-op with over 31,000 members-owners. The stores provide local, organic, and natural foods to the Corridor and everyone is welcome to shop – owner or not.
