The snow cover in Iowa might be what makes this seem an especially early switch this weekend to Daylight Saving Time.

Don’t forget tonight – Saturday, March 9, 2013 – to “spring forward” and set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed.

In recent years, Daylight Saving Time – or “savings” as most of us say – was switched to begin at 2 a.m., the second Sunday of March.

You lose an hour of sleep, but day shift workers will have an extra hour of sunlight to enjoy after work. We switch back to Standard Time the first Sunday in November.
