HIAWATHA — The 2020 Winter Gardening Fair, hosted by the Linn County ISU Extension Master Gardeners, transplanted this year to a new location.

Long held at the Kirkwood Community College campus in Cedar Rapids, this year’s event, on  Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, was moved to the Kirkwood Regional Center, 1770 Boyson Road, Hiawatha.

Participants registered for five classes from more than 70 choices and ate lunch on-site.

Sessions included garden tool maintenance, critter control, environmental gardening tips, new perennials for 2020, growing miniature hostas, seed starting and many others.

Some participants tried their hand at making toad houses and designing glass and pottery garden art, among other hands-on sessions.

Vendors sold plants, metal garden art, BioMarkers plant markers, garden journals and other items, and nonprofits offered information about their organizations.
